sTiVo, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Thank you for your understanding. Helpful bug reporting tips: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1.0.18 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245008 Title: Extreme slowness whenever unity components are accessed Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 13.04 Release: 13.04 Clicking DASH - wait many seconds for screen to appear Press a key with focus on DASH search box - at least 5 seconds before key appears Type Alt-Tab: wait at least 5 seconds for screen to paint. None of the above occurs outside of the Unity components. Once an application is launched performance is fine. I don't run games or other applications that would tax the graphics system noticeably. Web browsers, email, Virtual Box to run Windows XP, terminals, Eclipse, stuff like that is what I run. My temporary workaround has been to use an alternative desktop that places fewer demands on graphics card than Unity. I think the information gatherer gave you all the system information you need, if not I can get it for you. This issue was previously discussed in AskUbuntu where I was asked to open a bug here. http://askubuntu.com/questions/366219/what-does-fully-supported-mean-in-context-of-radeon-opensource-video-driver http://askubuntu.com/questions/364326/how-to-recover-from-bad-upgrade-to-13-04-unity-very-slow ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-32.47-generic 3.8.13.10 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-32-generic i686 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.5 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true Date: Sat Oct 26 11:10:28 2013 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: raring DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV610 [Radeon HD 2400 PRO] [1002:94c3] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Radeon HD 2400 Pro [1028:0302] InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-23 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release i386 (20130424) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-32-generic root=UUID=a86fcd31-3e5a-4103-8cff-93111dc5ce30 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 12/15/2007 dmi.bios.vendor: Dell Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1.0.10 dmi.board.name: 0RY007 dmi.board.vendor: Dell Inc. dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Dell Inc. dmi.chassis.version: OEM dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnDellInc.:bvr1.0.10:bd12/15/2007:svnDellInc.:pnInspiron530:pvr:rvnDellInc.:rn0RY007:rvr:cvnDellInc.:ct3:cvrOEM: dmi.product.name: Inspiron 530 dmi.sys.vendor: Dell Inc. version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.9~daily13.06.19~13.04-0ubuntu1 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.43-0ubuntu1.1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.1.4-0ubuntu0.1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.1.4-0ubuntu0.1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.3-0ubuntu6.2 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu2b2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.1.0-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.21.6-0ubuntu4.3 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.7-0ubuntu1 xserver.bootTime: Sat Oct 26 11:09:44 2013 xserver.configfile: default xserver.devices: input Power Button KEYBOARD, id 6 input Power Button KEYBOARD, id 7 input IOGEAR GCS1802 V1.5.141 KEYBOARD, id 8 input IOGEAR GCS1802 V1.5.141 MOUSE, id 9 xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.version: 2:1.13.3-0ubuntu6.2 xserver.video_driver: radeon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1245008/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
