sTiVo, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Extreme slowness whenever unity components are accessed

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 13.04
  Release: 13.04

Clicking DASH - wait many seconds for screen to appear
Press a key with focus on DASH search box - at least 5 seconds before key
appears
Type Alt-Tab: wait at least 5 seconds for screen to paint.

None of the above occurs outside of the Unity components. Once an
application is launched performance is fine. I don't run games or
other applications that would tax the graphics system noticeably. Web
browsers, email, Virtual Box to run Windows XP, terminals, Eclipse,
stuff like that is what I run.

My temporary workaround has been to use an alternative desktop that
places fewer demands on graphics card than Unity.

I think the information gatherer gave you all the system information
you need, if not I can get it for you.

This issue was previously discussed in AskUbuntu where I was asked to open a
bug here.
