Missing display from half of monitor (novaeu three screens)

Bug description:
On a cold boot the first screen on my display, out of three, will show
the desktop but with the bottom half of the monitor blank. The desktop
is not shrunk to fit the visible section but remains the same size as
if the full screen is being used. This results in the lower half of
the desktop not being visible. The displays are not mirrored. There
are two workarounds:
1. logout and back in again (works every time)
2. turn off the display through system settings -> display and then turning
it back on (this sometimes causes the system to hang, pressing [ctrl]+[c] will
cause the system to return to login page. When it hangs it states that it
cannot disconnect from plymouth.
