Ballock, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given you already have done this in a prior release, performing this on a release prior to Trusty would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. In System->Preferences->Monitor I have enabled this monitor and disabled the one built into the laptop. Now I undocked the laptop and got a blank screen on both. So I docked it back thinking that I would get the external display back, but no! At least SSH was working and I found this backtrace in the Xorg.log file: Backtrace: 0: /usr/bin/Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x3b) [0x80eaadb] 1: /usr/bin/Xorg (mieqEnqueue+0x1ab) [0x80e84cb] 2: /usr/bin/Xorg (xf86PostMotionEventP+0xd2) [0x80bdec2] 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so (0xb6d20000+0x48a1) [0xb6d248a1] 4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so (0xb6d20000+0x4b96) [0xb6d24b96] 5: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x66f9f) [0x80aef9f] 6: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x118794) [0x8160794] 7: (vdso) (__kernel_sigreturn+0x0) [0xb772c400] 8: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfb.so (fbOddTile+0x118) [0xb723da48] 9: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfb.so (fbTile+0x8c) [0xb723db0c] 10: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfb.so (fbFill+0x36f) [0xb723566f] 11: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfb.so (fbPolyFillRect+0x1b4) [0xb7235964] 12: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0xb725d000+0x63392) [0xb72c0392] 13: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0xb725d000+0x5ce0d) [0xb72b9e0d] 14: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0xd7755) [0x811f755] 15: /usr/bin/Xorg (miPaintWindow+0x1c2) [0x809d0e2] 16: /usr/bin/Xorg (miWindowExposures+0xc7) [0x809d477] 17: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x124158) [0x816c158] 18: /usr/bin/Xorg (miHandleValidateExposures+0x78) [0x81a8eb8] 19: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x7c87f) [0x80c487f] 20: /usr/bin/Xorg (xf86EnableDisableFBAccess+0x74) [0x80c4944] 21: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0xb725d000+0x5b412) [0xb72b8412] 22: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x154ff4) [0x819cff4] 23: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x93016) [0x80db016] 24: /usr/bin/Xorg (RRScreenSizeSet+0x6c) [0x810a3ac] 25: /usr/bin/Xorg (ProcRRSetScreenSize+0x1a0) [0x810ad80] 26: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0xbd8f5) [0x81058f5] 27: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x28eb7) [0x8070eb7] 28: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x1ed7a) [0x8066d7a] 29: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0xb745abd6] 30: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x8048000+0x1e961) [0x8066961] ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: xorg 1:7.5+5ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-27.49-generic-pae 2.6.32.26+drm33.12 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-27-generic-pae i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Wed Jan 19 14:11:03 2011 InstallationMedia: Kaszanka 10.04.1 "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100903) MachineType: Dell Inc.
