Dan Egnor, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .

This is on AC power. In my power management settings, I have "When the lid is closed" set to "Do nothing" (i.e. just blank the screen) for both AC power and battery. The system is still running (I think) but the display stays black. The only way (that I have found) to recover is to reboot. If I switch to a text console before closing the lid, it blanks and unblanks fine. Trying to switch to text console _after_ the screen has gone into permablack has no effect.
