Adam Porter, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Crashes X server when showing Firefox bookmarks menu

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I use KDE 4.7.4 with the global menu Plasma applet.

I was using Firefox. I opened the global menu. I hovered over the
Bookmarks menu. After a moment, instead of displaying the menu, X
crashed, taking everything with it, returning me to the KDM login
  screen.

This is really bad. All I have to do is accidentally hover over the
bookmarks menu and X instantly crashes, taking my entire X session
down with it. This is a major data-loss bug.

Perhaps it is caused by the size of the bookmarks menu. Although I
don't really use it anymore, since I use tags and the "awesome bar"
instead, it has 1,986 items in it at the moment--sometimes the default
in Firefox sticks new bookmarks in there without asking. (On my other
system I moved all the items out of the menu into Unsorted, but good
ol' Firefox Sync doesn't move bookmarks when you move them.) As a
workaround I will try moving all the items out of there--but this
still should not crash X and everything else.

Here are what appear to be the relevant lines from ~/.xsession-errors:
