sml, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  x crashes on key press

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have a Boxee Remote (wireless DLink keyboard) plugged into a machine
  running Xubuntu 11.10.

Every time I press a key on the remote, it will crash the X server
even at the lightdm login screen.

However, X doesn't crash if I run XBMC and am using the remote within
that application. However, as soon as I exit XBMC fullscreen mode
(even if it is running windowed) and press a button on the remote, I
  get this crash again.

I believe this crash is related to this bug (at least the backtraces are very
similar):
