tomazzi, it being unwanted is a matter of perspective. This would be
expected as outlined via the keyboard preferences. If one holds a key
down, key combinations included, irrespective of what the end result
would be, the expectation is this repeats, including multiple windows
closing in rapid succession. One may disable this via unchecking the
"Enable key repeat".

Title:
Alt-F4 auto repeat, modifier keys
Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
During experimenting with Xlib functions I've discovered that Alt-F4 is
auto-repeated, what can lead to unwanted closing of more than just one
(currently active) window. This is true for all up-to-date versions of Xserver
- tested on 10.04LTS and most recent 12.04 in virtual machine. When You press
Alt-F4 and keep it pressed ALL windows will close - it may be considered as a
"feature" unless it will happen by accident, and You will destroy Your not
saved work.
The problem is that some of key bindigs are critical and should be treated
specially (like allowing "Rising Elephants Is Utterly Broken" or not)
Fix for this can be implemented on different levels:
1. Xorg: key press/release events that have the same source and are including
modifiers should be propagated only on release event - this however can lead to
problems. This is partially implmented by the fact that muliti-modifier keys,
like ctrl-alt-delete will work only if delete is released first.
2. Window Manager
3. GTK event propagation system : - we can modify it, allowing to read the
user key bindings and behave differently.
