netbook, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Helpful bug reporting tips: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/976412 Title: Graphical display only shows top half of screen Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Display goes black right after boot. If ESC is pressed repeatedly it will show the UBUNTU loading screen as per normal. Once it goes graphical though only the top half of the screen is visible. See this thread for more information. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1953490 This happens in all versions including daily build up through Apr/07/2012. This applies to new, fresh installation to hard disk from USB or from Liveboot, although Liveboot (Try Ubuntu option) does show fullscreen properly. I used the ubuntu-bug -w command to report this bug by clicking on the top half of the desktop. The bottom half is of course not accessible.
