Bzzz, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Yesterday, something (didn't get a warning what exactly happened) must have crashed, so that I cannot use my custom shortcuts anymore. [ALT]+C for example doesn't do anything, but should launch kcalc, etc. Re-assigning the keys also doesn't work. I have no idea how to restart that function without logging out or even rebooting the machine. But here's the thing: Since then, the old problem with screen dimming via hardware keys has been solved. It now does every single step instead of jumping two to three levels higher each time. Therefore, this may be related to #207473 #802276 #239413 #839281 #729944 #403263 #527157 #510138 #629358 #658187 and others... So can please anyone tell me which application is providing the shortcut functionality in KDE? If restarting that thing instantly breaks dimming again, we're right on track of reproducing the error and maybe finding the root cause of it.
