nicholas5, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Steps to reproduce (on my system) try to click and drag icon in the unity launcher (attempting to reorder icons). first the unity launcher dock starts to flicker and shortly after the entire desktop flickers between a black screen and the desktop screen. This is followed but the display jumping around and often graphical corruption. The mouse pointer can be moved around fine as normal - but you cannot click on anything. At this point i need to reboot the system. I have also had the above happen when trying to install programs through software centre. As of now i am unsure if this is a bug with X or a bug with unity and im not sure where i should be looking to find logs or any indication of the source of the issue.
