Neil Toronto, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. This only happens when the launcher is displayed on external VGA (1920x1200). Clicking the "Go Home" applet execs "netbook-launcher --show- favorites", which properly shows the desktop and the favorites. The bug: netbook-launcher then takes 30-100% CPU indefinitely afterward. After I kill netbook-launcher, gnome-session restarts it, and it takes 0% as it should. Sometimes netbook-launcher does not respond to SIGTERM, and I have to send a SIGKILL (kill -9) instead. I've attached a short log from running netbook-launcher in a terminal, then running it again with --show-favorites. (Not shown in the log: CPU steady at 30%.) I had to kill -9 this one. Note that netbook- launcher reports that it caught the SIGTERM but it didn't die properly. This bug is very reproducible. Only netbook-launcher's response to SIGTERM appears nondeterministic. Workaround: remove the Go Home applet and put a Show Desktop button in its place. This at least allows access to the menus.
