Kai Aeberli, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. What happens is that the screen shows for a split-second and then goes dark. This behaviour occurs sometimes when resuming from hibernation, or just when hotplugging the screen. I even had it when booting up with the screen connected. I am finding it difficult to pinpoint the exact conditions of the error. Further, when it does work, as soon as I plug in the external screen, all desktop effects are disabled, and I have to enable them again. Also, Desktop effects don't work when displaying on both screens. The bug report command was run at a time where the external monitor was working.
