Dannyboy, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
[915g] hotplug storm, display manager continuously performs a forced
  detection cycle

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm just trying out the beta of Ubuntu Saucy and whilst most of what I
see is fine (I use xfce4) the updated intel driver seems to be messed
up. I'm not sure whether this is a problem with the kernel proper or
with the drivers but it does not seem to like the i915 chipset. It
does work but I get the impression that any hardware acceleration (and
I accept it is limited; this is an nearly netbook I'm using) is I
  think simply not available.
