pjgowtham, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Dell inspiron 15r freeze on adjusting brightness

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have dell inspiron 15r 7720 se with core i7

I ve reinstalled 13.10 several times and it doestn seem to work out
properly. So doesnt seem to be my install problem

I havent had such bugs on 12.04 lts version. I havent tried 13.04 .

At first after installation, the brightness slider or adjusting using keys
didnt seem to work. So i did something to make it work.
Ii edited GNU_CMD_LINUX or whatever. its in the askubuntu forums anyways

Now whenever i adjust brightness SOMETIME after boot, the system
  freezes.

I think the bug has reduced if i use my system on battery

Or even normally it freezes without adjusting brightness. But mostly on
  adjusting brightness this happens

And i cannot install any other ati video driver (in software and
updates app) or the update downloaded from amd ati website. Nothing
seems to work out. If i install those , My system crashes and i cannot
boot into it ever again. Its getting stuck on black screen during boot
  with X cursor

to be frank, my laptop is not usable in ubuntu
