Steve Murphy, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. The LVDS display works correctly, but I cannot get the VGA-0 display to work. When I start the machine, the VGA port displays a clone of the LCD screen until X starts. I have tried to enable the display using xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto, but the display hooked up to VGA-0 remains off even though xrandr indicates it is active. Output of xrandr is below: smurphy@smurphy-laptop:~$ xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1680 x 1200 VGA-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1680x1050 60.0*+ 1280x1024 75.0 60.0 1440x900 75.0 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1280x800 59.8 1152x864 75.0 1280x720 60.0 1024x768 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 66.7 59.9 720x400 70.1 LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 60.0*+ 60.0 800x600 60.3 59.9 640x480 59.9 59.4 S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) [lspci] 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: ATI Technologies Inc AGP Bridge [IGP 320M] [1002:cab0] (rev 13) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:0024] 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility U1 [1002:4336] Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:0024] --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Alpha i386 (20100224.1) Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub MachineType: Hewlett-Packard Pavilion ze4300 (DC976A) Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.192-2ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: i386 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-17-generic root=UUID=40bf88fe-2827-464a-bd2b-c9e1821436b2 ro quiet splash nomodeset nokms ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-17.26-generic 2.6.32.10+drm33.1 Tags: lucid lucid Uname: Linux 2.6.32-17-generic i686 UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare dmi.bios.date: 05/04/2005 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. dmi.bios.version: KAM1.60 dmi.board.name: 0024 dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: PQ1A84 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLtd.:bvrKAM1.60:bd05/04/2005:svnHewlett-Packard:pnPavilionze4300(DC976A):pvrKAM1.60:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn0024:rvrPQ1A84:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: Pavilion ze4300 (DC976A) dmi.product.version: KAM1.60 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucid architecture: i686 kernel: 2.6.32-17-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/384179/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
