Erwin Olario, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
display corrupt/garbles after waking up monitor

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

This is a recent problem, never experienced it before.

I'm using XFCE as DE in Ubuntu Lucid. This laptop uses an ATI Radeon
  Xpress 200M card

After I wake up my laptop, the display will show up corrupt or
garbled. As a workaround, I need to open the xfce4-display-settings,
change the resolution from my default (1280x800) to something else,
hit apply, then set it back to 1280x800 again.

I can trigger the problem by running this in a terminal:
xset -display :0 dpms force off

To temporarily prevent the problem from occuring, I disabled the
monitor from turning off when not in use.
