Sorry for my ignorance! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/859786 Title: No way to disable AutoPlay/AutoRun on media insertion Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: In previous versions of Nautilus there was always a "Media" tab present in Nautilus' Edit > Preferences window. Under the Media tab there was a setting to "Never prompt or start programs on media insertion". Here's a screenshot of the Media tab from ubuntu-10.04: http://i.imgur.com/uegjv.png In addition to the Media tab being absent in 11.10, there are also no settings in the gconf-editor nor dconf-editor programs that allow disabling AutoPlay/AutoRun. Previously, users could find a "media_automount_open" setting using the Configuration Editor (gconf- editor) found at /apps/nautilus/preferences. Disabling this setting would turn off AutoPlay/AutoRun. For security reasons especially, users need a way to disable AutoPlay/AutoRun from occurring when media are mounted/inserted. two regressions: 1. missing Media tab in Nautilus' Edit > Preferences 2. missing /apps/nautilus/preferences with "media_automount_open" setting in the Configuration Editor ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: linux-image-3.0.0-11-generic 3.0.0-11.18 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-11.18-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-11-generic i686 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
