Stilor, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Most often this happens in the taskbar panel (attached - red arrow shows what was supposed to be keyboard layout indicator, blue - kbluetooth icon), but sometimes I saw it in other places (e.g. Konqueror search box, also attached - where it was supposed to be google icon). Submitted this bug to KDE - bug 237212, but the response was "it's probably the driver". Graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 8600M (rev a1), using nouveau driver. --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 DkmsStatus: nvidia-current, 195.36.15: added GdmLog: Error: command ['kdesudo', '--', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log: No such file or directory GdmLog1: Error: command ['kdesudo', '--', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log.1'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log.1: No such file or directory GdmLog2: Error: command ['kdesudo', '--', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log.2'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log.2: No such file or directory MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv9700 Notebook PC Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.15+git20100219+9b4118d-0ubuntu5 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic-pae root=UUID=7f0fb0da-641c-49aa-9981-4ce4c39c6308 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-21.32-generic-pae 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Tags: lucid lucid Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic-pae i686 UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout disk lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo syslog dmi.bios.date: 11/25/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.59 dmi.board.name: 30CB dmi.board.vendor: Quanta dmi.board.version: 79.2E dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Quanta dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.59:bd11/25/2008:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPPaviliondv9700NotebookPC:pvrRev1:rvnQuanta:rn30CB:rvr79.2E:cvnQuanta:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: HP Pavilion dv9700 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: Rev 1 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucid architecture: i686 kernel: 2.6.32-21-generic-pae To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/579132/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
