Jim Leinweber, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
precise alpha 1 live CD video corruption on nvidia GeForce 6150SE

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I've been testing 11.10 alpha and beta images on various hardware platforms I
have access to. The only one I'm having trouble with is a Dell Inspiron 531
system unit hooked to an HP w2408h LCD display. Oneiric beta 1 and the
9/16/2011 daily image live 64-bit CD's produce massive video corruption on the
"try ubuntu" boot choice. Switching to a console terminal via Ctrl-Alt-F1
works fine.
I'll attach an Xorg.0.log file from the most recent boot attempt. The
problem seems to be with rendering; e.g. lots of blocky lines running down the
left hand side of the screen. Left clicking in regions where unity icons might
be expected seems to launch applications, but the app windows display very
squished and completely unusable. The X cursor is normal and moves normally
around the entire screen in response to the mouse.
