Hi Chris,

I'd be glad to help out. Thanks for looking at this. I'm traveling, and
will have to wait for a spare moment and good connectivity. Should be
within a couple of days if not sooner.

I have the same machine as when I reported that bug, and I can tell you
that today I am running Fedora 19 and the bug is here too. If right now
I close the laptop lid or suspend, when it comes back the screen will be
black. Nothing helps but cycling power.

I'll download an ubuntu image to usb and follow up.

Thomas

Title:
  Xorg freeze

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This bug is in 12.10 13.04 and 13.10 (I've been waiting to see if
  would go away ;-)

When the system comes back from suspend the screen is black. Changing
virtual terminals does nothing. If I have a program that makes sound,
such as "Alarm Clock" the sound plays. I.e. the system appears to be
alive but lacking a screen driver. Cntrl-Alt-Del has no noticable
  result.

The only way out of this state I can figure out is to re-power the
  machine.

A system update recently changed the close lid back to suspend, so
closing the lid kills the video.

I suppose it is clear from the uploaded information, but just in case,
  this is an Acer 7250.

  Thanks!
