Jan Rathmann, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. To reproduce, I just have to boot a daily live image from a USB stick. The followings happens (as shown in the camera screenshots I'm gonna attach): - The boot logo (shown by Plymouth) is distorted - Then for some seconds a very weird looking corrupted screen appears - Then the desktop has loaded, but shows only corruptions instead of the wallpaper - The dock on the left screen side is shown correctly, but it's not possible to start/use any application - The mouse cursor isn't shown, due to "shades" of tooltips you can sometimes guess where the cursor might be This is a regression from Precise and early Quantal, where Nouveau drivers worked much better. To report this bug, I had to boot the daily live image with the "nomodeset" option. Even the new software-rendered Unity desktop you get in this case is barely usable due to heavy repainting issues, but that might be another bug.
