Dariusz Panasiuk, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
screen corrupted with normal disk boot - ubuntu 12.10 beta 2 on HP
  Pavilion dv600 - NVIDIA Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS]

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This HP laptop works fine with ubuntu 12.04 but there are problems with
quantal beta 2.
with standard booting, you get unity taskbar at the left and top bar but
wallpaper is white page and you can not see a mouse.
It is not possible to use it. I have figured out two ways to kind of fix it:
  1) when in corrupted screen, swith to text console, kill lightdm and startx
as root. then run unity.
  2) remove "splash" from bootable options, when booting from USB

unfortunatelly I have this laptop only for today, so won't be able to
install 12.10 beta 2 permnently or do any other tests.

I hope information and logs attached would give some clue for
  developers.

  cheers

  Daz
