Dariusz Panasiuk, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. It is not possible to use it. I have figured out two ways to kind of fix it: 1) when in corrupted screen, swith to text console, kill lightdm and startx as root. then run unity. 2) remove "splash" from bootable options, when booting from USB unfortunatelly I have this laptop only for today, so won't be able to install 12.10 beta 2 permnently or do any other tests. I hope information and logs attached would give some clue for developers. cheers Daz ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-15.23-generic 3.5.4 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-15-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.5.2-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.324 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Tue Oct 9 19:33:21 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: quantal DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: No GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] [10de:0427] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Pavilion dv6700 [103c:30cc] LiveMediaBuild: This MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: cdrom-detect/try-usb=true noprompt boot=casper floppy.allowed_drive_mask=0 ignore_uuid live-media-path=/multiboot/ubuntu121064/casper/ initrd=/multiboot/ubuntu121064/casper/initrd.lz splash -- BOOT_IMAGE=/multiboot/ubuntu121064/casper/vmlinuz SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 11/25/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.59 dmi.board.name: 30D2 dmi.board.vendor: Quanta dmi.board.version: 79.2E dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Quanta dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.59:bd11/25/2008:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPPaviliondv6700NotebookPC:pvrRev1:rvnQuanta:rn30D2:rvr79.2E:cvnQuanta:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: Rev 1 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.8.2+bzr3377-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.39-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.0~git20120917.7cfd42ce-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.0~git20120917.7cfd42ce-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.99.99~git20120913.8637f772-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.20.8-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1064626/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
