hadobac, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
[nouveau] Screen tearing, graphical flickering with opened Dash

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal, on my Vostro 1400 with Nvidia GeForce
  8400 GS.

Since installation, I switch to Nvidia driver and it works alright,
but the windows performance is choppy, especially windows animation
effects. Disabling Sync to VBlank and compression make it works a bit
smoother, but still unacceptable. At least there are no screen tearing
  and stuff.

I decide to give Nouveau driver, holy god the windows compiz effects
  are smooth butter.

  - What I expect to happen: Dash open normnally and smoothly
  - What happened instead: screen tearing, graphical flickering unless I close
Dash. The libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental package does not help.
