Title:
Black screen with DVI to HDMI converter with Radeon card and xf86
  -video-ati

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

I get no signal on my hdtv when connecting it to the computer with a
hdmi cable via a dvi to hdmi converter from the dvi port of the
graphics card (ATI Technologies Inc RV610 video device Radeon HD 2400
PRO). xrandr reports that the tv is connected but no image is shown.

The dvi port works when connecting it directly to a monitor. The
converter and hdmi cable works when connecting it to a Mac mini.

I run Ubuntu 10.10 with kernel 2.6.35 but I also tested kernel 2.6.36
for Maverick from the Kernel Team, but with no luck. I also gave the
Natty alpha live dvd a try but I had the same experience there.
