I've merged the latest changes from Debian into trusty, including this
fix:

iputils (3:20121221-4) unstable; urgency=low

  * Cache DNS lookup results. (Closes: 109709)
  * Move the dependency on libcap2-bin to a Recommends instead, to avoid
depending on a lower priority package.
  * Fix a typo in flood ping output. (Closes: 698287)
  * arping: When using -c, exit immediately if the specified number of
    queries are answered. (Closes: 686944)
  * Fix return hops counting in tracepath and tracepath6. (Closes: 629075)
