Sven Roederer, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. I can't remember if the version of any xorg-package changed. It's like the pointer on the screen is transparent or has a size of zero - it's not visible. But it's there (for the software) as i can blind use the pad to try to hit an item (link in browser, window to activate, ...), which will work as expected. But it's hard to do something useful in the xsession. The touchpad gets recognized by the kernel and Xorg-server, according to the logs. A reboot (no powerdown) will fix this issue, till the next time. I tested that it will not be fixed by restarting the Xserver. This time it happend again after rebooting the PC, but I think rebooting someone fixed it.
