Title:
12.04 LTS freeze when opening file browser (frequently)
Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
What used to be occasionally but now frequently, when attempting to
open the file browser or plug-in a USB drive, the file browser window
opens (without displaying files, i.e. blank window) and locks up at
that point. It's a HARD lock, no response, I get a steady flash on
the HD activity LED about 1/second. I never had this problem in 11.04
or 11.10, so pretty certain this is a build issue. I thought this
just may be resolved as I continue to update but hasn't improved in
the past four months of 12.04 LTS use. I'm a linux newb, so any
additional information or commands you need to see the results of, I'd
be happy to do with instructions!
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Acer Ferrari 5000
2GB RAM
Turion64 x2
ATI Mobility X1600
