Thomas Schweikle, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. This leads to various negative effects: - klicking left mouse button at the title of a window to drag it: since more than one event delivered the window is roled up instead - klicking left on a printer to select it: the printer is not only selected, but printing is initiated, without any possibility to change settings - klicking right to open a context menu: the menu is opened, then closed, because multiple events are generated - klicking right to open a context menu: the menu is opened, then a menu entry selected and executed without any posibility to select the menu entry. Which one is selected depends on where the mouse button was on screen, when the menu is taller than the space between lower edge and mouse cursor. - scrolling the mouse wheel: sometimes it is impossible to scroll to a defined possition, because multiple events scroll further than expected - selecting text leads to various unwanted results: -- text is selected, then moved arround, because of multiple key down-events This is with various mice: - Logitech - LC-Power - Microsoft Tested with more than one mouse from all of the above, to exclude defective mice. All of them work with Windows as expected. As soon as I clamt them to my Ubuntu-Box they all show the same behaviour: multiple events for one klick (doesn't mater which key), multiple events for scrolling.
