Jonathan Byrne, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Touchpad not configurable in Kubuntu 10.04 B1

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

I have a Perixx Periboard 508 keyboard with integrated touchpad.

The touchpad works but is not detected by the touchpad configuration
in System Settings (all options are grayed out).

Under "Informations" (sic) it says "Touchpad Name: Device not found"

  I attempted to use ubuntu-bug -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics but it
  failed with:

Warning: The options -p/-P are deprecated, please do not use them. See
/usr/bin/ubuntu-bug --help
  QInotifyFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: inotify_add_watch failed: No such
file or directory
