Nicola B, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. The left button of my Synaptics touchpad (on a Vaio VGN-CS11S) works randomly (i.e. sometimes yes and sometimes no) ever since I installed Ubuntu 11.4. I've already made some tests: - Same problem happens using liveCD - Same problem happens with or without NVIDIA drivers - Xorg.0.log doesn't show any difference - Using a different system (i.e. a not very updated Archlinux) makes the problem disappear - If left button isn't working also tapping won't work (depsite having enabled it) and if I hot-plug an usb mouse also the mouse left button doesn't work - Restarting X (Ctrl-Alt-Del) with the USB mouse plugged makes the tap (and the mouse left button) work again - Mouse is configured for right handed - Malfunctioning starts before logging in I'll attach (as soon as I find out how ) the Xorg log and xorg.conf. Sorry I'm not aware on any way to reproduce it... it happens just at random To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/774877/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
