Axel Beckert, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Commenting just the later synclient call in my .xsession didn't help, so it seems unrelated to the used settings. Pressing the F9 button to enable/disable the touchpad showed no effect either. The very same configuration works fine on at least two Debian Sid netbooks (both ASUS EeePC, but different generations) and worked fine on the same hardware with Ubuntu Oneiric, so the source for this issue must be either the different hardware (Toshiba AC100, an ARM netbook) plus the newer package or some new difference between Ubuntu Precise (1.5.99.902-0ubuntu5) and Ubuntu Oneiric (1.4.1-1ubuntu2) or Debian Sid (1.5.99.902-1). Since all other "touchpad stopped working" bug reports claim that it happens more often with precise than with oneiric, I think this is another issue as it always worked with oneiric and never worked with precise in my case.
