Eric Harris-Braun, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Click-drag on touchpad fails intermittently on 12.04, MacBook Pro 6,2

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have my touchpad configured with tap-to-click off. Frequently when
using my thumb to press down on the pad to make the click, and then I
touch my index finger to to the touchpad intending to drag (for
example when resizing a window or extending the selected range of
text) the mouse will jump to an absolute position on the screen
(moving the selected text or window egde with it) rather and simply
extending the selection or window size.

This behavior happens about 50% of the time. I have not been able to
find a solution to it or anything to help distinguish what the
difference is between when it does happen and when it doesn't.
