Bollebug, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
when disabling touchpad , mypaint functions make ubuntu crash, and
  reverts to login screen

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I disable the touchpad to make sure I don't accidentally make strokes
on the canvas with my palm.

  this I do with : xinput set-prop 14 "Device Enabled" 0

with 14 being my touchscreen ID.

On Ubuntu precise 12.04 this posed no problem.
On Quantal 12.10 this exexutes fine ,seemingly without a problem.
But when I go to mypaint and try to do some work in it (like panning or
changing some modes) I get a black screen and get reverted to login screen.

My device is the asus EP 121. It uses a wacom penabled input tool. The
"touchpad" that I disable is the screen, only for finger input.

I was advised to enclose the x server log.
