I have a similar problem since the middle of September, 2011. I'd guess it is related to the security update of librsvg2-2 released about the time I started experiencing the bug, but that's just an uneducated guess.

Occasionally, when I log in, the indicators in the top left are both obscured (either by another indicator, or an invisible object), and out of position. Re-organising their position does not fix the fact that they are obscured. Crucially, logging out then back in again will always fix the problem.
