Martin Konopka, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. The boot goes fine. Then I decide to try the ubuntu (not to install). I go to the search in the left upper corner, type "terminal". I open the terminal. After a while the desktop environment almost completely freezes. I can only move the touchpad pointer. I can also switch to the console (Alt Ctrl F1) and then back (Alt F7). The desktop responds after this switch but its reactions and colours are strange and it is unusable. I guess a problem with a video driver. I am not sure which one because there are two graphics processors inside (one is an embedded Intel HD Graphics 4600, the other is the NVidia, see above). However, I have similar problems when I insert the DVD into an old computer: 1st generation Intel i7, without an embedded graphics, with two dual cards GeForce GTX295 (4 GPUs together). The machine runs fine older Ubuntu and Mint releases.
