Title:
network manager not functional in ubuntu-gnome 13.10
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
I installed ubuntu-gnome 13.10 beta-1 on my computer having AMD
Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+ × 2 and nvidia GeForce 6100
nForce 400/integrated/SSE2 graphics card. The installation process was
flawless but on installation the system was logging in only after
activating "nomodeset" in the grub menu. However, this problem was
sorted out when the Nvidia -304 drivers were installed.
The network -manager applet was also not visible and in the network
settings no dsl / ethernet connection /card was available. The network
settings is only showing VPN connections. The dsl connection could
only be activated through "pppoeconf" as no network manager was
available. It seems the gnome edition discourages all other modes of
internet connections other than VPN. The ISO was downloaded through
the "zsync" mode not once but two three times and the same problem has
persisted even after re-installing ubuntu-gnome.
