I made comment #149 to bug 1098334: I had found a web page that showed the problem clearly. Now I have tried trusty-desktop-i386.iso from Jan 8 and that page and some other pages and a few expiriments with command windows showed no corruptions, at least that I could see. So hopefully the bug is corrected now.
