Ubuntu 10.04 crashes after a few hours(after the initial login)

Bug description:
I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS AMD64 installed with all updates.
System creashes after a few hours of starting the PC.
This happens with any application open. System freezes, screen turns black
with a white cursor on the top left side of the screen.
System doesn't let me do anything, can't do ctrl+alt+F1 through F7.
Sometimes when the screen turns black, system reboots.
Sometimes screen freezes with the image of the Desktop(Gnome), can't do
anything.
All this happens after a few hours.
