You cannot simply rename a printer by editing its name in printers.conf. If you want to rename a printer, start system-config-printer, right- click on the printer's icon, choose "Rename", and enter the new name. Otherwise you get a broken print queue.
Please remove all your print queues for your Brother printer and then turn off and turn on your printer. Wait until a new print queue is created. Can you print now? If yes, the bug got fixed in the mean time. If no, tell us exactly which printer model you have and follow the instructions of the following sections on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems: - USB printer - CUPS error_log - Capturing print job data - Getting the data which would go to the printer - USB printer does not print or prints garbage Attach all resulting files, but please do not compress or package the files together, please attach them one by one.
