I don't recall a fix for this specific issue, but am able to login using
2.8.8pre.3 without issue.

Title:
  Cookie handling prevents logging in on some sites.

Status in “lynx” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: lynx

  Cookies which are set for domain=.example.com are not sent in requests
  to example.com (note the lack of a www. prefix). This means users can
  not log into sites like Launchpad (launchpad.net) which need to set
  authentication cookies for many subsites (e.g., code.launchpad.net)
  because they store their authentication cookies with
  domain=.launchpad.net.

  Duplication instructions can be found at
  https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad-
  foundations/+bug/586908/comments/4.

  Any pointers to an upstream place where this bug can also be filed
  would be appreciated as well.

  The version of Lynx being used is 2.8.8dev.2-1 on Ubuntu 10.04.
