Confirmed for new 3.10 install with ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3.
Like Steve O comment, remove the extra "fi" at line 79 solves the problem.

Title:
  init.d script fails

Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Found after upgrading to saucy today: the script in /etc/init.d/gdm
contains an fi-statement too many (also visible with syntax hilighting
in vim), which makes it impossible to manually restart gdm.

Attached is a patch to make it work again.
