Bug description:
Binary package hint: evolution
Hi,
I try to use a PCMCIA umts network adapter "Option N.V. Qualcomm
MSM6275 UMTS chip" (1931:000c) with Ubuntu 9.10.
Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid -> card works
Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty -> card works
Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic -> Timeout while connecting with network manager
NetworkManager messages:

NetworkManager: <WARN> pppd_timed_out(): Looks like pppd didn't initialize
our dbus module
... (the full log is appended as NetworkManager.log) ...
The good news:
An USB umts network adapter "Huwai E620 USB Modem" works fine on the same
machine with the same setup.
I heard very similar complains about Sony-Ericsson PC300 PCMCIA and
Sierratec PCMCIA cards.
While testing I've included "debug" and "kdebug 5" options in
/etc/ppp/options, this gives more output but does not solve the issue
of course.
Hope the appended log files help.

the Huwai E620 USB device on the same machine (or as it did with former Ubuntu
versions)
4) "GSM network - you are now offline" after timeout.
