Title:
resume from ram fail in intrepid, no backlight, no capslocks light

Status in “pm-utils” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I've browsed other bugs and mine seems to be both unique and
incredibly consistent. When I suspend, (whether I do it from the menu
or the console or single user mode) it suspends successfully, but when
I go to resume the power led stops flashing and burns steady and I
hear the harddrive start up but the backlight never comes on for the
monitor and pressing the caps locks key does not activate the
capslocks LED which I have heard might indicate a hung kernel. I must
then hold the power button down to force power off and then restart.

I'm new to the bug reporting process here so I don't know exactly what
is needed, so please tell me what additional files are needed.

A note about the dmesg file would be that while I followed the steps
  at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend I don't know if it
actually caught the resume failure, I think the entire log is from the
start up after I forced a shutdown and restarted.
