Title:
system hangs after resume from hibernate on a HP OmniBook 500

Status in “pm-utils” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pm-utils

  pm-utils 1.2.2.4-0ubuntu4
  2.6.28-11-generic i686
  Ubuntu 9.04
  i386

When I call pm-hibernate from the command-line or initiate the hibernation in
any other way, I get the following result:
The hibernation process goes through as expected.
The resume process seems to finish as expected, too, but then I observe the
following:
The CPU fan runs high and the HDD LED turns off.
I can switch between text consoles Ctrl-Alt-F1 through F6, which appear
correctly.
No tasks seem to run (I left a top running before hibernating, which seems
frozen after resume).
In consoles, normal keystrokes have no effect except Ctrl-A through Ctrl-Z
and so on, which echo on the screen but have no other effect.
  CAPS lock reacts as expected.
When I switch to the X console with Ctrl-Alt-F7, the kernel seems to hang (no
CAPS lock reaction, no more console switching).
Stopping kdm before hibernating does not change anything (besides Ctrl-Alt-F7
does not hang the kernel).

This bug might be related to #368955, #350919, #246172.

Switching to uswsusp does not work either, see #310955.
