Bad visual feedback on calling hibernate

Bug description:
When I call hibernate on my laptop, the screen blanks right away,but the
system
has not yet finished writing to the disk. It should only blank the screen once
it has finished writing to the disk and thus all the functions of the laptop
appear to end at the same time.
