Lucid Beta 2 crash while entering launchpad bug comment

Bug description:
Binary package hint: xorg
Was entering a comment on launchpad bug when wham! screen flashed
between command line frame as seen from Ctrl Alt F1 to black then went
black dead. ssh got no route to host, i.e. no response at all.
This was 20100407 new install i845 with default KMS on.
It went down so hard and fast I don't think Ubuntu saved any useful
info however the results from ubuntu-bug xorg are attached. I'll try
to attach xsession-errors which doesn't have much in it either.
Just booted with "i915.modeset=0" and will edit /etc/default/grub and
do sudo update-grub.
