Bug description:
Binary package hint: gdm
When boot gets to the 'drum-beat' just before the login-menu the display
fails and shows a screen-full of coloured boxes. Repeated booting up to 12
times will very often produce a successful boot.
Also, if I do <ctrl><alt><f1> (which produces more colours) and then do
<ctrl><alt><f7> the login screen now appears and continues normally, but
<ctrl><alt><fn> to get a console window still fails.
