Bug description:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Graphics are very slow, and opening Google in Firefox will instantly
freeze the machine in Ubuntu 10.04
Removing compiz and compiz-core didn't solve this.
Using the kernel command line options "ro nomodeset" instead of "ro
quiet splash" solves this problem.
The machine does not freeze when kms is disabled, and graphics speed
is acceptable (as in 9.10)
This machine is using a PCI Radeon 9200 SE card (not PCI express)
