Display turns off after a while, but does not turn back on when I move
the mouse or press a key

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-evdev” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

After a bit of inactivity, my laptop's display turns off, as expected.
However, very often, when I move the mouse or type something on the
keyboard, it does not turn back on. I have to use the brightness keys
to increase the brightness to make it turn on.
