Yes it's specific for the first user which was created during the installation. Tried it with a new account and it does not show up. I tried to turn it off twice. First the usual way with ctrl+h and then with the menue (down arrow) "show hidden files" and unchecked it. When I close and restart nautilus hidden files are visibile again. Of course the entry in the menue is also checked again.
